The focus of my works lies on the creation of handmade paper collages, drawings and paper objects, which I sew from thin japanese paper. Proceeding from drawing studies of the human body during my studies of Fine Arts in Dresden (Germany) and Brussels (Belgium), my works often take the form of clothing and accessories, that we wear next to our skin; transparent shoes, hats, or backpacks that can be associated with the body itself as a fragile and transient shell.
I reflect on the perception of bodily transformation and dissolution, grounded in the body as a sensually tangible, physical presence. At the center lies a phenomenological approach to the material: paper, seams and hems become carriers of embodied memories and associations that relate to touch and the surface of the skin. The transparent sewn objects appear like the remains of a moult - remnants or testimonies of a form that has changed shape and moved on. They seem to refer to something now absent or belonging to the past, while at the same time, emanating a calm presence.
